Germany-Fed Banknotes 1989-1991 Issue
The final series of Deutsche Mark banknotes issued by West Germany was introduced in 1989-1990, just before German reunification. It consisted of six denominations: 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 marks. Each note featured a notable German cultural figure:
5 DM: Bettina von Arnim (writer)
10 DM: Carl Friedrich Gauss (mathematician)
20 DM: Annette von Droste-Hülshoff (poet)
50 DM: Balthasar Neumann (architect)
100 DM: Clara Schumann (composer)
200 DM: Paul Ehrlich (scientist)
These banknotes remained in circulation until the introduction of the euro in 2002.
